We want every student who wants to attend the 20th Annual Governor’s Conference on LGBTQ Youth to have the opportunity to be there! If cost is a concern, here are some ways you can fund your trip—whether it’s registration, transportation, or other expenses.
Many schools have funds available to help students attend educational events. Here’s how to request funding:
Talk to a Teacher or GSA Advisor – Let them know you’re interested in attending and ask if there’s funding available.
Check with Your Principal or School Administration – Some schools cover costs for student leadership events.
Ask Your Student Government or PTO/PTA – These groups often have funding for student activities.
Look into Field Trip or Professional Development Funds – Your school may have a budget for learning experiences like this!
💡 Tip: Emphasize how this conference supports student leadership, inclusivity, and school climate—many schools see value in supporting students to attend!
If your school can’t cover everything, or you’re attending with a group, here are some ways to raise money:
GSA Fundraiser – Sell stickers, host a bake sale, or organize a community trivia night!
Ask Local Businesses – Some businesses (especially LGBTQ-friendly ones) may be willing to sponsor part of your costs.
Crowdfunding – Sites like GoFundMe make it easy to ask for small donations from friends and family. Share why you want to attend and what you hope to get out of the experience.
💡 Tip: Flip through our student GSA Guidebook for some inspiration!
